Mission: Our mission is to empower our community by promoting sustainable practices in the fashion industry and keep the world healthy. We aim to engage and educate people to keep unnecessary clothing out of landfills and ensure that your favorite well-loved pieces remain a part of your life. Let's keep the world sewing and thriving together.
Welcome to StitchLab, our open studio space. Here, community members can engage in mending, sewing, and pattern-making projects alongside fellow creatives. The space will be stocked with sewing supplies, and machines will be available for rent. Nicole and Angela will be there to assist with your personal projects, offer feedback on projects, and help with machine problems. Come have fun, learn, connect, laugh, and create change!
Available Supplies for future Open Studio sessions*:
Embroidery floss
Sewing thread
Pins/needles
Chalk/fabric markers
Snips/fabric shears
Rulers/tape measures
Scrap materials
Ironing station
Sewing machines (for rent)
Mending kits (available for purchase)
*Personal supplies are welcome but NOT necessary.

Nicole Foti has over a decade of experience working in the fashion industry. As a Marist University alumna, Nicole fell in love with the Hudson Valley. In 2017, after years working for various designer brands in New York City, she moved to Upstate NY full time to teach Fashion Design and Merchandising at the Ulster BOCES Career and Technical Center. As an educator, Nicole hopes to help others build sustainable practices into their day-to-day lives and teach valuable and empowering skills to the community.
Angela K is a passionate fashion design professor with over 18 years of experience. Before teaching, she owned a successful clothing line in New York City, where she managed a storefront and sold wholesale. A proud Pratt Institute graduate, Angela has embraced every opportunity in fashion design. Her goal is to bring people back to the basics of slow fashion, focusing on sustainability, repair, reuse, and cherishing well-loved clothing. Angela is committed to moving away from the wasteful and environmentally damaging practices of fast fashion.
